COCONUT WONDER

Coconut oil is one of my favourites for use on both my hair and skin. It's easy to apply, easy to obtain and it smells great!

Coconut oil is made by pressing the oil from the coconut "meat", which is the white flesh inside the coconut, either in its fresh form, or its dried form, which is known as copra. Copra is generally used to make Refined coconut oil, while the fresh meat is used to produce Virgin coconut oil. The oil can be extracted from the meat by an expeller-pressed method, which uses steam or heat, or via the cold-pressed method where the pressing temperature remains below 120F to retain more of the nutrients. Refined coconut oil is produced by machine-pressing the copra to release the oil which is then heated and filtered to remove the flavour and odour.

Coconut oil has the following benefits:

It Protects
The Vitamin E content in coconut oil protects the skin and prevents cracking.

It Hydrates
The saturated fat and polyphenols in coconut oil help to reduce moisture loss from the pores.

It Smooths
Coconut oil helps to keep the appearance of the skin healthy and smooth as the rejuvenating proteins help to repair the damaged skin cells.

It Provides Antioxidants
Coconut oil prevents premature ageing due to its antioxidant properties.

It's Easily Absorbed
Coconut oil is easily absorbed and long lasting on the skin.

It Soothes Irritated & Wounded Skin
The antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiviral properties of coconut oil will help to protect microbial infection, while the Vitamin E content will help promote skin growth.

Coconut oil can also be used on the hair and it is known to moisturise the hair, reducing breakage and protects the hair from environmental damage. It also protects the hair from protein loss and can reduce dandruff when it is applied to the scalp.
